Spark capsule is used for the treatment of infections such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, infections of the ear-nose-throat, sinus and other infections of the respiratory tract caused by bacterial infections.

How it works

Spark capsule belongs to a class of drugs called as quinolone antibiotics. It acts by inhibiting the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme (that allows replication of DNA), thereby killing the bacteria, reducing its multiplication and curing the infection.

  • Sparfloxacin is not recommended for children below 18 years of age.
  • Minimize exposure to sunlight, wear protective clothing or apply sunscreen when outdoors to prevent phototoxicity (sunlight induced skin rashes) while taking this drug.
  • Inform your doctor before taking the drug if you are taking other medicines such as tricyclic antidepressants, anti-arrythmic agents, phenothiazines or cisapride.
