How to use Sertakem AZ Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Sertakem AZ Tablet works

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and sertraline which have anxiety-lowering and mood-enhancing effects. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which increases the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Sertraline is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which increases the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger that improves mood.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
