Silodosin is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). and to relieve symptoms during urination like hesitancy, incomplete emptying, weak stream, increased urgency and frequency, and increased urination in the night.
How it works
Silodosin belongs to a class of medications called as selective alpha-1 receptor blockers. It blocks the alpha-1 receptors located in the muscles of human prostate, urinary bladder and urethra and relaxes these muscles, resulting in an improvement in urine flow and a reduction in BPH symptoms.
Common side effects
liver dysfunction, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, allergic skin reaction, jaundice., diarrhea, dizziness especially while getting up suddenly from a lay position, Change or problem with discharge of semen, headache, other serious allergic reactions involving swelling of tongue and throat causing breathing difficulty
