How Pti Injection works
Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection is a combination of two medicines: Piperacillin and Tazobactum. Piperacillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Tazobactum is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Piperacillin against bacteria.

Pregnancy
PROBABLY SAFE
Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
SAFE
Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Driving
It is not known whether Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney
CAUTION
Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

  • Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.
  • Take it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach.
  • Stop taking Pti 4000 mg/500 mg Injection and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.

Hello, thanks for sharing your problemI understand that but you have to take medications continuously to prevent clot formation and failure kindly follow up periodically with ur doctor in case any problem arises repeat ur PTI AND INR blood tests regularly to check that whether drugs are causing side effects also look for reddish brown patches on skin, any joint swelling and pain suddenly or any bleeding in such cases consult ur doctor immediately i hope it helps
My mother is a DVT patient and earlier taken Acitrom 3mg, she is also a patient of hypothyroidism, obesity and OA. For OA she is taking L Carpro 1 tab BD and Jointace DN 1 tab BD daily. She is suffering from epilepsy with absence seizures and taking medicines Valance OD 500 1 tab BD, Levipil XR 500 1 tab OD, and Cloba 10 1 tab HS. For thyroid problems she is taking Eltroxin 75 1 tab OD. Here at present doctor has told to take Vit. K Inj 1 amp for 5 days to normalize PTime and after that advised to take Acitrom 2mg 1 tab OD for INR to increase. Whether it is needed or not and/or please suggest and reply.

Hello, greetings from 1mg.comI can't comment on this whether it is needed or not because I don't exactly know the value ot PT, pti and inrBut i want you to understand Acitrom decrease the blood clotting capability sometimes more than required and it may cause bleeding so in order to prevent that short course of vit k is given to balance this as vit k increase blood clotting So no need to worry just stick to doctor's advice and repeat these tests to monitor the effects of medications as advised

Q. What are the contraindications of Pti?
Use of Pti should be avoided in patients with known allergy to any of the component or excipients of this medicine.
Q. How should I use Pti?
Pti is injected into a vein through an intravenous route (IV). You may be shown how to use an IV at home. Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not self-inject this medicine, if you do not fully understand the instructions. Properly dispose of used needles and other items used to inject the medicine. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. It must be given slowly, and the IV infusion can take at least 30 minutes to complete.
Q. What happens if I overdose?
If you overdose the Pti you may suffer severe anxiety, feeling restless or nervous, or seizure (convulsions). Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of these symptoms.
