Uses of Plendil Tablet
PLENDIL 5MG TABLET is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and chest pain (Angina).

How to use Plendil Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. PLENDIL 5MG TABLET may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Plendil Tablet works
PLENDIL 5MG TABLET is a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.

Pregnancy

PLENDIL 5MG TABLET may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
PLENDIL 5MG TABLET is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving

PLENDIL 5MG TABLET does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
SAFE
PLENDIL 5MG TABLET is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of PLENDIL 5MG TABLET is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
PLENDIL 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of PLENDIL 5MG TABLET may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advisable while the patient is taking this medicine for better dose adjustment.
What if you miss a dose of Plendil Tablet?
If you miss a dose of PLENDIL 5MG TABLET, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • You have been prescribed PLENDIL 5MG TABLET to improve your blood pressure and/or to reduce the number and severity of angina attacks.
  • Lowering blood pressure reduces the chance of future heart attack & stroke.
  • It can cause ankle or foot swelling. Raise your legs while you’re sitting down and talk to your doctor if it does not go away.
  • A sudden drop in your blood pressure may occur, especially when you first start taking PLENDIL 5MG TABLET. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
