Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is used for the short-term treatment of bacterial infection eg. tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia, cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, boils, abscesses, cellulitis, wound infection, osteomyelitis, dentoalveolar abscess.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Dissolve it in a glass of water before taking it. Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT is to be taken with food. This will help to avoid stomach upset.
Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT is a combination of two medicines: Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Potassium Clavulanate is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Amoxicillin against bacteria.
It is generally safe to consume alcohol with Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT.
Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT is probably safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT is safe to use during lactation.
Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT can have side effects and the symptoms (such as allergic reactions, dizziness and convulsions) may make you unfit to drive.
Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Penom Clav 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of this medicine is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

In case, you experience diarrhoea, drink plenty of water or other fluids. Talk to your doctor if you have persistent diarrhoea and any signs of dehydration like less urination with dark coloured and strong-smelling urine. Do not take any other medicine without consulting a doctor.
Q. Can Penom clav cause allergic reaction?
Yes, Penom clav can cause allergic reaction and is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to penicillins. Get emergency medical help if you have any of the signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat

The use of Penom clav is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to penicillins or any other excipient. It should not be used in patients with previous history of liver damage associated with the Penom clav.
