Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of acidity, peptic ulcer disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux).

How to use Pantacid Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pantacid 40 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Pantacid Tablet works
Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Pantacid 40 mg Tablet should be used with caution during lactation. Breast feeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
Driving
Pantacid 40 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, drowsy or affect your vision. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
Kidney
SAFE
Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, the use of Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is not advised along with other medicines used for the treatment of Helicobacter Pylori infection.
Liver
Pantacid 40 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Pantacid 40 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
What if you miss a dose of Pantacid Tablet?
If you miss a dose of Pantacid 40 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Take it one hour before the meal, preferably in the morning.
  • It is a well-tolerated medicine and provides relief for a long time.
  • Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever, or stomach pain that does not go away.
  • Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention.
  • Long-term use can cause weak bones and deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
