Uses

Norprogest tablet is used in increased prolactin levels.

How it works

Norprogest tablet treats increased prolactin level (hyperprolactinemia) by decreasing the amount of prolactin in the body which helps in fertility and period problems ( usually caused by not having the right amount of prolactin). Norprogest tablet treats acromegaly by decreasing the amount of growth hormone in the body.

  • Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • Quinagolide may cause a drop in blood pressure during first few days of treatment, patients are therefore advised to change their positions slowly from sitting/sleeping to standing during initial days of treatment.
  • This drug may also cause drowsiness or sleepiness. Therefore, patients who are taking this medicine should be cautious while driving or operating machinery.
  • Quinagolide may lead to development of unusual behaviour patterns known as ‘impulse control disorders’. Inform your doctor if you or your care taker notices behaviours such as addictive urge for gambling, uncontrollable drive to shop/spend excessively, excessive eating, unusually high sex drive or sexual thoughts.
  • Inform your doctor if you have ever suffered from mental illness or if you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
