Potassium Citrate(1100 mg)

Cystitis, gout, kidney stone.

How it works

The metabolism of absorbed citrate produces an alkaline load. The induced alkaline load in turn increases urinary pH and raises urinary citrate by augmenting citrate clearance without measurably altering ultrafilterable serum citrate. Thus, potassium citrate therapy appears to increase urinary citrate principally by modifying the renal handling of citrate, rather than by increasing the filtered load of citrate. The changes induced by potassium citrate tablets produce a urine that is less conducive to the crystallization of stone-forming salts (calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate and uric acid). Increased citrate in the urine, by complexing with calcium, decreases calcium ion activity and thus the saturation of calcium oxalate. Citrate also inhibits the spontaneous nucleation of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate (brushite).

Common side effects

Paralysis, Abdominal pain, Allergic reaction, Diarrhoea, Nausea, Vomiting
Magnesium Citrate(375 mg)

Magnesium citrate is a mineral salt used to treat constipation or for bowel evacuation before surgery or other bowel procedures (colonoscopy, radiography).

How it works

Magnesium citrate is a saline laxative. It is believed to work by increasing fluid content in small intestine and thus helps in bowel evacuation.

Common side effects

Nausea, Abdominal bloating, Abdominal cramp, Allergic reaction, Blood in stool, Cramps, Diarrhoea, Dizziness, Electrolyte imbalance, Fainting, Altered heart rate, Increased sweating, Vomiting, Weakness
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)(20 mg)

It is used for the treatment and prevention of vitamin B6 deficiency. It is important for the breakdown of protein, fats, and carbohydrates from foods.

How it works

Vitamin B6, principally in its biologically active coenzyme form pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, is involved in a wide range of biochemical reactions, including the metabolism of amino acids and glycogen, the synthesis of nucleic acids, hemogloblin, sphingomyelin and other sphingolipids, and the synthesis of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Common side effects

Burning sensation, Tightness sensation, Headache, Nausea, Sleepiness, Stomach upset, Pricking sensation, Tingling sensation
