Overview

Introduction

Materna Hcg 2000IU Injection is used in the treatment of infertility in women. It is also helpful in the treatment of male hypogonadism (delayed puberty, and low sperm count). It works by releasing the eggs from the ovary in women and by increasing the testosterone level in men.

Materna Hcg 2000IU Injection is given as an injection under the supervision of a doctor. Your doctor will decide the right time to take the injection, so always follow your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.

The most common side effects of this medicine include injection site pain, headache, fatigue, and depression. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Male might notice acne, or sweating and deepening of the voice. Some side effects may mean you should inform your doctor immediately include dizziness, pelvic pain, faint, abdominal pain, and vomiting.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had heart disease, or had ovarian cyst or had thyroid gland disorder. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should avoid alcohol or have to follow doctor advice related to diet while taking this medicine.

Side effects of Materna Hcg Injection

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Common side effects of Materna Hcg

  • Injection site pain
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Irritation
  • Restlessness

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Injection site pain
Try to change the area of injection and the exact site of injection each time. Apply a cold compress to the injection site. These symptoms are usually mild and should only last a few hours. You can ask your doctor to recommend a medicine if it is bothering you.
  • Coping with Headache
Make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Rest in a quiet, dimly lit room. Do not sleep more than you normally would. Do not strain your eyes (for example by looking at a screen). Do not drink alcohol. Headaches are usually temporary and usually go away with time. But, if they last longer or get worse, ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.
  • Coping with Depression
It is important to talk to your doctor if you think you may be depressed. The sooner you do this, the sooner you can recover. Treatment for depression can involve a combination of lifestyle changes, talking therapies (such as counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy) and medicines (antidepressants). There are many things you can do for yourself if your depression is not too severe. Exercise is an extremely effective treatment for depression, so make sure you keep as active as possible. It can really lift your mood. A healthy diet can also make a big difference to your mood (as well as improving your physical health). Mindfulness is a technique that many people find helpful. It may be tempting to smoke or drink alcohol, but both will make things worse in the long run. Try talking to a friend or family member even if you do not feel comfortable doing this. Get into a routine with regular sleep patterns and meals. If you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Coping with Irritation
If you feel this medicine is causing mood or behavior changes, speak to your doctor as you may need a change of medicine. There are also some things you can do yourself. Eat well, do relaxation or deep breathing exercises and practice regular exercise that you enjoy, such as walking, swimming or yoga. Try to avoid caffeine, alcohol and sugar as these can all cause mood swings or make them worse. A good night’s sleep can also help. It often helps to talk to a friend or family member even if you find this difficult. If it bothers you, consult with your doctor.
  • Coping with Restlessness
This often disappears when the condition you are being treated for is managed. You could ask your doctor about changing the dose of your medicine or alternatives if it is affecting your daily life or causing you distress. Psychological treatments may be available. Some things you can do to help yourself include stopping smoking, cutting down the amount of alcohol and caffeine you drink, and doing regular exercise. You should also eat a healthy diet and find out how to get sleep if you are having trouble. Try talking to a friend or family member. Calming breathing exercises and other relaxation techniques may also help.
