Levera XR-500 mg Tablet is antiepileptic medication. It works by attaching to specific sites (SV2A) on the surfaces of nerve cells. This suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain and prevents the abnormal spread of electrical signals that can cause seizures.

Epilepsy medicines may need to be continued for longer duration if seizures recur. Medicines weather it is divalproex sodium or leviteracetam need to be taken in adequate doses for seizure control. Donot reduce medicine without doctor's advice and continue follow up with your doctor. If encourage chrono suits you better and there are no liver related side effects, it is also a good choice.
my wife PATIENT suffering from Epilepsy. she gets it generally when she is feeling weak or exhausted or if she has some small accident at home /outside which hurts her body part little severely. we did follow a course of epilepsy tablets for 6 month in 2010 but it was exhausting her and health was further deteriorating. hence stopped that. this year it happened twice every time with reason. me and family support her all the way emotionally / mentally. also makes sure that she is having proper diet and sleep. please advise what best can be done medicine wise and in terms of improving health by diet or nah other ways. thank you

Sir i have been taking tegrital 200 for epileptic fits for the last 21 years. I had fits when i was 24 and doctor prescribed 2 tabs of tegrital 200 daily. I started the medicine and it is working fine till date. I havent seen my doctor ever since. Is it safe to take this drug for such a long time?

Usual treatment duration for epilepsy is for three years, after which medicines are gradually tapered of. Tegrital(carbamazepine) can have ill effect on kidneys. You need regular Kudney Function Test and Complete Blood Counts to monitor any side effect.
