Medicine Overview of Leonate Tablet
Leonate Tablet is used in the treatment of malaria
Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhoea, Stomach upset, Feeling of fullness, Fatigue, Dizziness, Headache, Skin rash, Ecg changes, Mouth sore.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Leonate Tablet is to be taken with food.
This medicine is to be taken along with plenty of fluids or a light meal, heavy meal can delay medicine absorption and efficacy.
Leonate Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Artesunate, Sulfadoxine and Pyrimethamine which treat malaria. Artesunate and Pyrimethamine are antiparasitic medicines which work by increasing the levels of haeme in the blood, a substance toxic to the malarial parasite. This kills the parasite and stops the infection from spreading. Sulfadoxine is an antibiotic which stops the bacteria from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial multiplication.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Leonate Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation.
Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Leonate Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Leonate Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Leonate Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
