Expert advice for Gramicidin

  • Inform your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after 7 days of use. 
  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery, or perform tasks which require concentration since gramicidin may cause blurred vision.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. 
  • Do not take if allergic to gramicidin or any of the ingredients.
  • Do not take  in damaged ear drum, glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye that causes visual problems), herpes keratitis (viral infection of the eye caused by herpes simplex virus); viral, fungal, tuberculous or pus-filled conditions of the eye.
 

Expert advice for Neomycin

For oral tablets:
  • Neomycin tablets are not recommended for children below six year of age.
  • Some patients (infants, elderly, obese and cystic fibrosis [genetic disorder that affects lungs] patients) may require monitoring of neomycin levels in blood to prevent damage to the ear and kidneys.
  • Caution is advised in patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease or any disease characterized by muscle weakness, or in patients about to receive general anesthesia.
  • Caution is also advised in patients who are exposed to loud noise, or patients who have been dehydrated due to diarrhea or vomiting.

  • It is a steroid medicine which works well for many different conditions, including serious illnesses.
  • Take regularly to gain maximum benefit.
  • Do not discontinue unless advised by your doctor. You may need to decrease the dose gradually.
  • You may get side effects such as mood changes or stomach problems. Notify your doctor if you get them.
  • Some side effects may occur after weeks or months. These include weakness of arms and legs, or developing a rounder face.
  • Your risk of getting an infection may become higher. Tell your doctor immediately if you have a fever, flu-like symptoms, cough, painful urination, or a wound that does not heal.
