Cefixime(50 mg)

Uses

Cefixime is used in the treatment of bacterial infections and typhoid fever.

How it works

Cefixime is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria by attacking their cell wall. Specifically, it prevents the synthesis of a substance in the cell wall called peptidoglycan, which provides the cell wall with the strength required for survival of bacteria in human body.

Clavulanic Acid is used in the treatment of bacterial infections.

How it works

Clavulanic acid belongs to a group of medicines called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It blocks the activity of a chemical (beta-lactamase), which is secreted by bacteria to protect themselves from antibiotic drugs like amoxicillin, thereby allowing the antibiotics to act against the bacteria. It does not kill bacteria and is never used alone to treat infections.

  • Take caution when taking the medicine if you have liver or kidney disease or history of anemia.
  • Take the tablets whole with a glass of water with or without food or milk. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
  • The medicine works best if taken with meal or within 30 minutes of a meal.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney problems, inflammation of colon (colitis) or if you are taking medicines to thin the blood (e.g. warfarin).
  • Do not take cefixime if you are allergic to it or to any type of cephalosporin or penicillin drugs.
  • Do not take cefexime if you have allergic reaction (rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of lips, face, tongue and throat).
