Introduction of Ivin Injection

Ivin 1 mg Injection is an anti-cancer medication used in the treatment of breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, blood cancer, multiple myeloma, lymphomas and bone cancer.

Ivin 1 mg Injection is given as an injection by a qualified medical professional. It prevents cancer cells to divide and multiply. You should continue to take it as long as your doctor advises you. The duration of treatment varies with the type of cancer you have and other factors like your response to treatment. Your doctor may get regular blood tests done to check your blood cells during treatment with this medicine. In case of white blood cells disturbances, Some people may experience associated fever or infections.

In males it may cause aspermia (lack of semen causing infertility) whereas in females Ivin 1 mg Injection may cause amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), which may recover after some duration. It may also cause acute kidney disease (nephropathy) related to uric acid level. It is better to inform doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. Hair loss, peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness of feet and hand) and constipation are some other side effects of Ivin 1 mg Injection.

How Ivin Injection works

Ivin 1 mg Injection blocks replication of genetic material (DNA) in the cancer cells. Thus it stops the growth and multiplication of cancer cells.

Expert Advice

  • Avoid being near people suffering from infections (such as, cold, flu, contagious illnesses), as you may be more susceptible to infections, while on vincristine therapy, because of possibility of leukopenia.
  • Avoid even accidental contamination of eyes with vincristine as it may cause severe irritation.
  • Vincristine may cause acute kidney disease (nephropathy) related to uric acid level.
  • Care should be taken in elderly patients because they are more susceptible to neurotoxic effects of vincristine.
  • In males, vincristine may cause aspermia (lack of semen causing infertility); in females vincristine may cause amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), which may recover after some duration.

This is given to enhance the therapeutic effect of radiation therapy which is curative for small cell lung cancer.
I had a 1-2 Stage breast cancer and mastectomy was done for left breast in 2011. Earlier I was taking Tamoxifen Citrate 20mg. Now, prescribed Altraz 1mg. Which is better and can I continue with Tamoxifen as Altraz is too costly.
