Uses of Glycinorm Tablet

Glycinorm 80 Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

How to use Glycinorm Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glycinorm 80 Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Glycinorm Tablet works

Glycinorm 80 Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose.

Glycinorm 80 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Glycinorm 80 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
Glycinorm 80 Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
Glycinorm 80 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glycinorm 80 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
These patients can experience very low blood sugar levels with this medicine, which may take a long time to come back to normal
Liver
Glycinorm 80 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glycinorm 80 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Glycinorm Tablet?

You should skip a dose of Glycinorm 80 Tablet, if a meal is skipped and add a dose of medicine if you eat an extra meal.

  • Glycinorm 80 Tablet helps decrease high blood sugar level and avoids long-term complications of diabetes. 
  • Take it shortly before or with the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast). Avoid skipping meals.
  • Exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines (if prescribed) alongside.
  • Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. 
  • Be careful while driving or operating machinery until you know how Glycinorm 80 Tablet affects you.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. 
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemic symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxious feeling.
  • Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).

You have to restrict your diet as advice by your doctor Because diabetes is sedentary life style disorder, you should do exercises and morning evening walk at least for 40 minutes along your medicine and food restrictions. This would be beneficial to you.
High cholesterol and lipid. Also type 2 diabetes under control. Vegetarian. Pls advise on dite

Per day calorie intake should be between 1,500-1,800 calories with a proportion of 60:20:20 between carbohydrates, fats and proteins, respectively, take Healthy fats from raw nuts, olive oil, fish oils, flax seeds etc, fresh Fruits and vegetables,whole grains, legumes and other high-fibre diet, avoid refined carbohydrate diet,if u eat non veg u can take fish, poultry egg white, pulses whereas avoid red meat, avoid saturated fats like ghee, butter, avoid sweet foods, take small but frequent meals, supplements containing omega 3 fatty acids like Multivite fm omega capsule Quit smoking, avoid too much alcohol intake, find ways to reduce stress like meditation, yoga, etc. Moderate exercise daily like a brisk walk for 1 km. hope it helps

Q. Is Glycinorm useful in the management for prediabetes?
Glycinorm is not used for the management of Prediabetes, a condition with blood glucose levels higher than normal but not high enough to label you as diabetic. There are clinical studies available, but the evidence is not strong enough for its use in prediabetes.
Q. Can I skip Glycinorm for few days?
No, Glycinorm should not be skipped, as it can make your diabetes worse. If, you miss the dose by mistake, take it as soon as you remember.
Q. Can Glycinorm be given to elderly patients?
Yes, Glycinorm can be given to elderly patients. However they are more prone to the risk of low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia), so, a regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is important. Patients should be cautious of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and always keep a quick source of sugar with them like a candy or a fruit juice.
Q. How is Glycinorm different from teneligliptin?
Both Glycinorm and are teneligliptin are antidiabetic drugs and control blood sugar levels effectively. However, they work in different ways and have a different mechanism of action and side effects. Glycinorm commonly causes hypoglycemia and weight gain while teneligliptin causes headache and nasopharyngitis. Teneligliptin causes hypoglycemia when used along with insulins or sulfonylureas and does not cause weight gain.
Q. Can I take Glycinorm if I have a sulfa allergy?
Use of Glycinorm should be avoided if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to sulfonylureas or sulfonamides or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Q. How is Glycinorm different from metformin?
Both metformin and Glycinorm are antidiabetic drugs and control blood sugar levels effectively. However, they work in different ways and have a different side effect profile. Metformin causes more of stomach upset, like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and bloating while Glycinorm causes very low blood sugar levels and weight gain.
Q. Does Glycinorm cause weight gain?
Yes, Glycinorm can cause weight gain. It is advisable to closely monitor your diet and do regular exercise while taking this medicine. Avoid skipping your meal as it can cause very low blood sugar levels and you may end up snacking or taking a lot of sugars.
