Gentasporin 20 mg/2ml Injection

Introduction of Gentasporin Injection

Gentasporin 20 mg/2ml Injection is an antibiotic widely used in hospitals for treatment of moderate to severe infections like that of the urinary system, bone and joints, lungs (e.g. pneumonia), brain (e.g. meningitis), and others. It is a narrow spectrum antibiotic that is effective in killing mainly gram-negative bacteria. It is administered as a drip (intravenous infusion) or as an injection directly into a vein or muscle under the guidance of a doctor. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor based on the site and severity of the infection. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine early may lead to the infection coming back and harder to treat. It may be used in combination with other antibiotics to fight many problematic bacteria. This medicine is associated with significant side effects and should only be taken under a doctor’s supervision. Kidney failure is the most common side effect which can be minimized by adjusting the dose and avoiding the use of other drugs that are toxic to the kidney. Ear toxicity (e.g. hearing loss) can happen in patients requiring long term Gentasporin 20 mg/2ml Injection therapy (>2 weeks). Your doctor may conduct regular tests to check the status of kidney function and hearing ability while you are on this medication.
