Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and dementia in Parkinson's disease.

How to use Galamer Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Galamer Tablet works

Memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease occurs due to disturbances of signal transmission in the brain. Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet is a cholinesterase inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) involved in transmmission of nerve signals. This improves memory and thinking.

Alcohol

Taking Galantamine with alcohol can make you feel sleepy
Pregnancy

Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, use of this medicine is not recommended in patients with end-stage kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Galamer OD 8 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
