Introduction

Etofine MR 60mg/4mg Capsule is a combination medicine which helps in relieving muscular pain. It relieves muscle stiffness or spasm and improves the movement of muscles. It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation.

Etofine MR 60mg/4mg Capsule should be taken in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Depending on the severity of your underlying illness, your doctor will decide the precise dose. It may cause side effects like stomach pain, indigestion, flatulence, swelling of hands, and swelling of feet in some patients. It may also cause diarrhea, so drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated.

How to use Etofine MR Capsule

How Etofine MR Capsule works

Etofine MR 60mg/4mg Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Etoricoxib and Thiocolchicoside, which relieves pain and relaxes the muscles. Etoricoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and to improve pain and movement of muscles.

Etofine MR, when used for long-term pain relief, should be continued for as long as advised by your physician. It can be discontinued if you are using it for short-term pain relief.

Q. Can the use of Etofine MR cause dizziness?

Yes, the use of Etofine MR can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.

Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Etofine MR?

The use of Etofine MR is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to painkillers (NSAIDS) or any of the components or excipients of this medicine. The use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of stomach ulcers or in patients with active, recurrent stomach ulcer / bleeding It should also be avoided in patients with history of heart failure, high blood pressure, and liver or kidney disease.

Yes, Etofine MR can be taken with Vitamin B-complex preparations. While Etofine MR helps to relieve pain, Vitamin B-complex can help to correct the vitamin deficiency that might be causing your symptoms.

Q. Can the use of Etofine MR cause damage to kidneys?

Yes, the long-term use of Etofine MR can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects them from damage. Use of painkillers lowers the levels of prostaglandins in the body leading to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended to patients with underlying kidney disease.

No, taking more of this medicine will not make it more effective, rather it can lead to increased side effects. If the symptoms are getting severe, please consult the doctor for re-evaluation.
