Ergest LD Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill. It works by preventing the release of egg (ovulation) and affecting sperm movement in the womb to prevent its union with the egg. It also changes the lining of the womb and renders it unsuitable for pregnancy.

you can take an I pill within 72 hrs on ur act. but u ve to remember it is only 90% effective. no medication is 100% effective. and u can not take I pills more den once as it is high dose progesterone and repeated doses causes cycle disturbances and unpredictable ovulation and increases chancea of unwanted pregnancy so please shift to a permanant method of contraception.

Both contains progesterone and can lead to irregular spotting. Both can be given in lactating women. POP needs to be taken daily without any break and DMPA is an inj which can be taken once in 3 months. She can chose between the two .

The use of Ergest LD is not recommended in patients with known allergy to any of its component or excipients. It is not indicated in patients with a history of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, migraine headache, liver disease or tumors, uterine bleeding, breast cancer, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism (blood clot).
Q. Can Ergest LD be taken by a patient who smokes?
Ergest LD should not be taken by a person who smokes. Smoking increases the risk of serious side effects like death from heart attack, blood clots or stroke. The risk increases in patients who are obese or over 35 years old and with an increasing number of cigarettes. Inform your doctor if you smoke, before Ergest LD.
Q. What if I miss my regular menstrual periods while taking Ergest LD?
If you miss your regular menstrual periods while taking Ergest LD, you may be pregnant. Some women may miss periods or have light periods while taking Ergest LD even when they are not pregnant. Contact your doctor if you think you are pregnant, missed one or two periods. This may happen in case you are not taking Ergest LD at the same time every day.
