Eat cold or slightly warm food if the smell of cooked or cooking food makes you feel sick. Get plenty of fresh air. You could also try chewing ginger or drinking ginger tea. Eat bananas to replace potassium in your blood which can drop if you are sick (vomit). Use oral rehydration salts to replace vitamins and minerals lost through being sick. There are some medicines that can help you stop from feeling sick. Speak to your doctor if your condition does not improve.

  • Coping with Stomach pain/epigastric pain
Try to get plenty of rest and relax. Putting a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach may relieve the stomach pain. It may help if you eat and drink slowly and have smaller and more frequent meals. Reduce your intake of coffee, tea and alcohol as these can make the pain worse. If you are in a lot of pain, speak to your doctor about possible medication. Your doctor may be able to prescribe some over-the-counter medicines to help reduce the pain.
  • Coping with Heartburn
Avoid foods that irritate the stomach such as alcohol, carbonated soft drinks, citrus, coffee, fatty foods or tomatoes. Eat or drink slowly. Eat smaller, more frequent meals. The reason being, large meals fill the stomach and put pressure, causing reflux. Quit smoking if you smoke, lose weight if you are overweight and avoid tight waistbands. Ask your doctor about medicines to treat this condition such as antacids. Do not lie down immediately after eating and wait for at least three hours before lying down after a meal. Raise the head of your bed. Talk to your doctor if your condition does not improve, they may be able to reduce the dosage or switch you to another medicine.
  • Coping with Diarrhea
Keep up your intake of fluids and electrolytes (sugars and salts) to avoid getting dehydrated. Eat less fiber (avoid raw fruits, fruit juice and vegetables). Talk to your doctor about possible medication to manage diarrhea. Ask about reducing the dosage of your drug or other suitable treatments.
  • Coping with Loss of appetite
It is important to eat, even if you do not feel like it. You might try switching to smaller meals and frequent snacks. Try eating healthy and nutritious snacks that are high in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts. It is important to drink even if you cannot eat. But, do not fill your stomach with liquid before eating. Eat when you are most hungry. Exercise such as a short walk may also increase your appetite. Talk to your doctor about possible medication or supplements if your condition does not improve.

FAQs

Q. What is Diclomin?

Diclomin is a combination of two medicines: Diclofenac and Paracetamol. This medication helps in relieving pain and inflammation. It works by lowering the levels of chemical substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Paracetamol / Acetaminophen has an early onset of action which means that it takes very less time to start its action and it helps in relieving the symptoms till diclofenac starts working.

Q. Is it safe to use Diclomin?

Yes, Diclomin is safe for most of the patients. However, in some patients it may cause some unwanted common side effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, diarrhea and other uncommon and rare side effects. Inform your doctor if you experience any persistent problem while taking this medication.

Q. Can I stop taking Diclomin when my pain is relieved?

Diclomin, when used for long-term pain relief, should be continued for as long as advised by your physician. It can be discontinued if you are using it for short-term pain relief.

Q. Can the use of Diclomin cause nausea and vomiting?

Yes, the use of Diclomin can cause nausea and vomiting. Taking it with milk, food or with antacids can prevent nausea. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods along with this medication. In case of vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids by taking small frequent sips. Talk to your doctor if vomiting persists and you notice signs of dehydration, like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicine without speaking to your doctor.

Q. Can the use of Diclomin cause dizziness?

Yes, the use of Diclomin can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.

Q. Can the use of Diclomin cause damage to kidneys?

Yes, the long-term use of Diclomin can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protect them from damage. Use of painkillers lowers the levels of prostaglandins in the body leading to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended in patients with underlying kidney disease.

Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Diclomin?

The use of Diclomin is considered to be harmful in patients with known allergy to painkillers (NSAIDs) or any of the components or excipients of this medicine. Q. Can Diclomin be taken with Vitamin B-complex?

Yes, Diclomin can be taken with Vitamin B-complex preparations. While Diclomin helps to relieve pain, Vitamin B-complex can help to correct the vitamin deficiency that might be causing the underlying painful condition.

Q. Is it safe to take a higher than the recommended dose of Diclomin?

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Diclomin can lead to increased chances of side effects like nausea, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea and can also damage your kidneys on long-term use. If you are experiencing increased severity of pain or the pain is not relieved by the recommended doses of this medicine, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Q. What is the recommended storage condition for Diclomin?
