Irinotecan(20 mg)

Colotecan 20mg injection is used for the treatment of progressive metastatic cancer (state of cancer which spreads to other parts of body) of the large intestine (colon and rectum).

How it works

Colotecan 20mg injection belongs to class of drugs called topoisomerase inhibitors. Colotecan 20mg injection inhibits the action of topoisomerase. Colotecan 20mg injection prevents religation of the DNA strand by binding to topoisomerase I-DNA complex. The formation of this ternary complex interferes with the moving replication fork, which induces replication arrest and lethal double-stranded breaks in DNA. As a result, DNA damage is not efficiently repaired and apoptosis (programmed cell death) occurs.
