Overview

Introduction

Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of migraine. It prevents pain signals to reach the brain to reduce pain. It also blocks certain substances in the brain that trigger nausea or vomiting during migraine headaches.

Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet is taken without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effect is dryness in mouth. This is temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about these side effects. Migraine attacks can be managed by identifying migraine-causing triggers which may be red wine, caffeine withdrawal, stress, and skipped meals, etc. You can identify personal triggers by maintaining a diary of what you are doing, what you are eating, and any stressful activity happened before migraine attack.

    Keep a drink available that you can sip through the day. Rinse your mouth with warm salted water and chew sugarless gum or hard candy. Try breathing through your nose more often than your mouth. Avoid caffeinated beverages, smoking and alcohol because they can make your condition worse. Use lip balm if your lips are also dry. Try to avoid foods that are acidic (like lemons), spicy, salty or sugary. If this side effect bothers you or does not go away, talk to your doctor about artificial saliva products or other suitable treatments.

How to use Cetgrain Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Cetgrain Tablet works

Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Paracetamol/Acetaminophen. Domperidone is a prokinetic which works on the region in the brain that controls vomiting. It also increases the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing food to move more easily through the stomach. This prevents nausea and vomiting caused due to migraine. Paracetamol/Acetaminophen is an analgesic (pain reliever) and an anti-pyretic (fever reducer) which blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and fever associated with migraine.

Breastfeeding

Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Cetgrain 20 mg/500 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
