How to use Cardibeta Tablet XR

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Cardibeta 100 mg Tablet XR may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Avoid Cardibeta 100 mg Tablet XR with high-fat meals such as olive oil, nuts & seeds (Brazil nuts), dark chocolate, butter and meat.

Cardibeta 100 mg Tablet XR is a long-acting beta blocker that works specifically on the heart. It works by slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

  • Cardibeta 100 mg Tablet XR lowers your blood pressure and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.
  • Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.
  • It may also be used to reduce the number and severity of angina attacks (chest pain caused by heart disease).
  • It may cause dizziness. If this happens to you, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
  • It can hide symptoms of low blood sugar if you're diabetic . Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly.
  • Side effects like headache, cold hands or feet, constipation or diarrhea can be experienced with its use. These are usually mild, short-lived and may not be with everyone.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Taking Metoprolol with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Cardibeta 100 mg Tablet XR is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Cardibeta 100 mg Tablet XR may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
