How it works
Ramipril belongs to a class of drugs called ACE inhibitors (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors), Ramipril inhibits the chemical ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme). As a result, there is relaxation of blood vessels leading to a fall in blood pressure which makes it easier for the heart to pump blood.

Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It also treats fluid retention (edema) due to congestive heart failure or cirrhosis of liver or kidney disorder.
How it works
Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to class of medications called thiazide diuretics. It acts by eliminating the fluid and salts from the body. It works on the kidneys to produce more urine which removes extra water and certain salts from the body which in turn lowers blood pressure and swelling.

- Do not take ramipril if you have narrowing of one or both arteries that carry blood to kidneys causing reduced blood flow to the kidneys (bilateral renal artery stenosis or renal artery stenosis in a single functioning kidney), abnormally low or unstable blood pressure.
- Do not consume if you are undergoing dialysis or any blood filtration technique as ramipril may cause sudden and severe reactions.
- Discontinue ramipril and consult your doctor if you suffer from cough or swelling of eyes and lips (angioedema).
