Bolofen 5mg Tablet


Overview

Introduction

Bolofen 5mg Tablet is used for muscle relaxation. It provides relief from rigidity, tension and stiffness in muscles (spasticity) that may occur due to various conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease, or injury to the head, brain or spine.

Bolofen 5mg Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It should be taken with or after food. Do not stop taking it suddenly without discussing with your doctor.

Fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness and weakness are some of the side effects that might be seen on taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease.

How to use Bolofen Tablet

Bolofen 5mg Tablet is a muscle relaxant. It works on the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm maintaining the strength of the muscles. This relieves pain and improves movement of muscles.

Driving

Bolofen 5mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Bolofen 5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Bolofen 5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Bolofen 5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Bolofen 5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you forget to take Bolofen Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Bolofen 5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Road accident. Now cured. Is physiotherapy mandatory after removal of POP??Sir, I met with road accident exactly 63 days ago. Now POP is removed. Still can't walk without walking aid. Doctor told physiotherapy is not required. And not suggested any exercises also for muscle relaxation. Q. Can Bolofen make you sleepy?

Yes, Bolofen can cause sleepiness. It can make a person dizzy due to its sedative effect. It can also affect vision and therefore you should avoid driving and using heavy machinery until and unless you know how Bolofen affects you.

Q. Does Bolofen help anxiety?

Though Bolofen is not approved to treat anxiety disorders, it has been observed in some studies that it is effective in treating stress which occurs after a trauma.

Q. Can I take Bolofen if I have a liver problem?

If you have a liver problem then you need to be cautious while taking Bolofen. This is because the medicine may increase the production of liver enzymes. Hence, regular laboratory examination of liver enzymes is required while taking this medicine as advised by your doctor.

Q. Does Bolofen have any effect on kidneys?

Bolofen may cause side effects in patients with normal kidney function which include excessive day time urination (pollakiuria), burning sensation while urinating (dysuria), and loss of bladder control (urinary incontinence). Generally, a low dose of Bolofen is prescribed if a person has abnormally functioning kidneys or if a person is on dialysis.

Q. How should Bolofen be taken?

Take Bolofen exactly as directed by your doctor. If a person experiences nausea while taking Bolofen then it should be consumed with food or milk. However, for night cramps, it would be best to use the medicine at night time or 1 hour before doing specific tasks like physiotherapy or washing.
