How to use Alda Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Alda Tablet at a fixed time.

Alda is an antibiotic. It is an anthelmintic drug and is used in the treatment of many parasitic infections.
Alda is used for the treatment of infections caused by helminths (worms) like Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworms), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Strongyloides stercoralis, animal hookworm larvae causing cutaneous larva migrans, and Opisthorchis viverrini (liver flukes) and Clonorchis sinensis. It is also indicated for the treatment of Hymenolepis nana and Taenia spp. (tapeworm) infections and has shown good activity against anaerobic protozoa like Giardia lamblia and Trichomonas vaginalis. Please consult your doctor before taking any treatment for worms as there could be many worms against which Alda would not be effective.
Alda works by killing the larva and the adult form of the worm by inhibiting tubulin polymerization which causes energy depletion and decreases the mobility of the worm and hence kills the helminth.
Q. Can I take Alda with fluconazole?
Alda can be taken with fluconazole. No drug-drug interactions have been reported between the two. However, interactions can occur. Please consult your doctor before taking the two medicines together.
Alda is safe if taken for prescribed duration in prescribed doses as advised by your doctor.
Alda is used for the treatment of pinworms (Enterobius vermicolaris). Alda is active against the larval and the adult stages. Consult your doctor before taking any medicines for worm infections.
Alda is not an over the counter (OTC) product. It is a prescription medicine.
Alda is safe to use in people with G6PD deficiency. Please consult your doctor to know more about drugs which are to be avoided in G6PD deficient people.
