Actonel 35mg Tablet is used in the treatment of osteoporosis
It treats osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fractures.
Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Headache, Heartburn, Difficulty in swallowing.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Actonel 35mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Actonel 35mg Tablet is a bisphosphonate. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause the destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.
In Depth Information on Actonel Tablet
- Take Actonel in the morning on an empty stomach with water.
- Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after taking Actonel.
- Maintain an upright posture for 30 minutes after taking Actonel.
- Inform your doctor if you experience pain in jaw, throat, chest, abdomen, hips or thighs.
- Inform your doctor if you are about to undergo any major dental procedures, as Actonel may need to be discontinued temporarily.

Actonel 35mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Actonel 35mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation.
Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Actonel 35mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Actonel 35mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Actonel 35mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. However, use of Actonel 35mg Tablet is not advised in severe kidney disease patients.
Actonel 35mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Actonel 35mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
If you miss a dose of Risedronate, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
