Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. The parasite causes serious problems for some people such as weakened immune system.  
 
Signs and Symptoms
 
Common symptoms are:

3. Swollen lymph nodes
4. Fatigue
5. Fever
 
Causes and Risk Factors
 
Common risk factors for toxoplasmosis are:
1. Waste from an infected cat
2. Eating contaminated meat that is raw or not well cooked
3. Using utensils or cutting boards after they have had contact with contaminated raw meat
4. Drinking infected water
5. Receiving an infected organ transplant or blood transfusion
 
Complications
 
Complications may damage:
1. Brain
2. Eyes
3. Other organs
 
Treatment
 
Most people with toxoplasmosis do not need treatment. However, your doctor may suggest some medication for immediate relief.
