Facial hirsutism (Excessive hair growth on face)

Description of Facial hirsutism (Excessive hair growth on face)

Facial hirsutism is a condition in which females sport hair growth on their face. Excessive hair growth on face could be due to either an increased level of male hormones (androgens) or excessive sensitivity of hair follicles to the male hormones. Unwanted facial hair in women can be a cosmetic problem and may produce mental trauma and emotional distress. Facial hirsutism can be treated with hair removal methods like plucking, bleaching, depilatory creams, shaving, waxing or laser. In some cases medications may be used.
