Based in your clinical history, your doctor plans the type of medicine and it's dose and duration. For first episode of anxiety/ depression/ panic, the usual maintenance phase is 6 months of asymptomatic period, after which medicines can be gradually tapered. But treatment may need to continue longer depending on severity and frequency of episodes. To take any decision to change medication or stop them, several factors have to be taken in account for which regular follow up with your psychiatrist is important. For second opinion, seek a proper consultation with another psychiatrist and take along your previous prescriptions.

Overthinking is not a disorder, what is causing overthinking could be a disorder. Everything in human beings is a biological phenomenon and therefore medication are effective. If you don't want to take medication, you can go for psychotherapy. A good clinical psychologist or psychiatrist who can spare time can start these sessions but the response can take months to years. Sometimes medicines give a head start to control anxiety and negative thinking and therapy becomes easier.

Anxiety disorder, panic attacks. I am currently consulting a psychiatrist named Sudeshna Biswa. She prescribed me the pexep 37mg. If ever I miss it even for a day or 2 I get these weird dizzy feeling. I can actually feel my heart beat on my head. More like when someone catches you offguard and you get shocked you get that sudden yank to your body that's how I feel every minute if I miss the medicine.

Please don't miss your medicine. That's not good. If you take regularly, these symptoms will subside and then your psychiatrist would reduce medications. Good luck!

Society is not going to cure you my friend, if you have a problem, you have to get proper evaluation. Psychiatric evaluation is based on history, clinical symptoms, personality factors, ongoing psychosocial stressors and frequency and severity of symptoms. It requires direct interaction with the patient on a regular basis. Once diagnosed, a management plan is formed based on intensity and frequency of symptoms and associated biological and psycho social factors. A complete solution to ones problems in a single question is thus not possible. I suggest you to visit a psychiatrist in your vicinity for clinical evaluation.
