Is acne related to menopause in women?

During menopause there is decline in the level of estrogen hormone, but androgen or male hormone levels does not change. So, there is relative excess of androgen levels that appears to be causative for acne formation in women at the start of menopause. Androgens stimulate glands producing sebum or oil leading to acne.
