Suffering from nephritis, prescribed rituximab inj IV for 4 weeks. What are chances of being cured? What is the risks of rituximab? Following is the brief synopsis of his disease so far. 1. Albumin detected at age 4 (1981) and treated with prednisolone 2. Biopsy done at CMC, Vellore (1983) showed minimal change disease and treated with prednisolone 3. From 1983 to 1990 on and off steroids (prednisolone)leading to severe obesity and stunted growth and frequent relapses 4. 1990 Treated at Apollo Hospital, Chennai with Endoxon for 8 weeks, developed cellulitis of right thigh, remission achieved. 5. 1993 Treated with Chlorambucil 6. FROM 1995 to 2005 no medicines taken and albumin free, even though had Jaundice in 2001 still there was no relapse 7. Oct 2005 relapse, edema and treated with omnacortil 120 mg alternate day and albumin free without medicine for 6 months 8. In Sep 2006 developed urticarial vasculitis and treated with Dapsone for 7 days 9. In Dec 2006 again relapse after severe cough and cold; treated with omnacortil 10. In November 2007 briefly on CELLCEPT 500mg on advice of Anup Kumar Barman (Guwahati) but stopped by UCD Nautiyal of Jaipur Golden (New Delhi) 11. In Sep 2008 BIOPSY shows minimal lesion nephropathy 12. In Nov 2009 took Myfortic 360mg 1 tab twice daily 13. From April 2010 started Tacrolimus/ Pangraf at 6mg BD, deflazacort 36mg OD and completely stopped deflazacort after 3months and tacrolimus reduced to 0.5mg BD after 6months but relapsed after 8 months 14. From 2011 pangraf dose started again 3mg BD with deflazacort, remission achieved but again relapse after pangraf reduced to 1mg BD 15. Repeated relapses continuing from 2011 till 2014. In 2014 Pangraf started at 2mg twice daily and deflazacort at 36 mg daily, deflazacort stopped but relapse again when pangraf reduced to 1mg in morning and 2mg in evening. 16. From 2014-16 Tacrolimus 2mg+2mg morning and evening, deflazacort 36mg when relapsed and tapering, Presently frequent relapses in the period Medicine Vingraf 2mg twice daily, deflacort 12mg OD. Recently remission on 15mg defcort after relapses but again relapses at 9mg defcort. For cough taking alerfix M from yesterday. No other significant medication in this period.
