While the fear of injections may diminish over a period of time, there are some factors which can make the process more comfortable and less painful, while making insulin therapy effective. The length of the needle is one such factor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proper depth for the injection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is important to remember that the injection must be delivered subcutaneously[1] i.e. in the fat tissue. The needle should be long enough to penetrate the skin and inject into the fat tissue, but not so long that it enters the muscle tissue.
