Irritation of the throat results in sneezing, resulting in a nasal discharge that drains into the throat (postnasal drip). Long-term allergy can cause nasal blockage and breathlessness, especially while lying down.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classification<\/strong><br \/>\nBased on the duration of complaints:<br \/>\n<strong>1) Intermittent:<\/strong> If symptoms last for &lt;4 days a week or an episode lasts for &lt;4 weeks, it is classified as intermittent allergic rhinitis.<br \/>\n<strong>2) Persistent:<\/strong> On the other hand, if symptoms last for &gt;4 days a week or an episode lasts for &gt;4 weeks, it is classified as persistent allergic rhinitis.<br \/>\n<strong>Based on the severity of complaints:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1) Mild:<\/strong> Mild allergic rhinitis does not show major symptoms. It does not impair daily household, school, or work activities and sleep is not affected.<br \/>\n<strong>2) Moderate-severe:<\/strong> Moderate-severe allergic rhinitis has at least two of the following: impairment of daily activities, reduced productivity at school and work, troublesome symptoms (itching of eyes\/nose, nose block, and discharge from eyes), and disturbed sleep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scope of\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.1mg.com\/categories\/-57?utm_source=articletrack&amp;utm_medium=Homeopathy\"><b>homeopathy<\/b><\/a><br \/>\nHomeopathy works on the principle \u201clike cures like,\u201d this means that the prescribed medicine is able to produce symptoms similar to the disease condition, which helps in curing the condition. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1mg.com\/categories\/-106?utm_source=articletrack&amp;utm_medium=Homeopathy_Medicines\">Homeopathic medicines<\/a> are seen to improve the over-sensitized immune system and thus act as an immunomodulator or immunoregulator.
