{"id":28436,"date":"2017-08-22T12:30:31","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T07:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.1mg.com\/articles\/?p=28436"},"modified":"2017-08-23T10:45:12","modified_gmt":"2017-08-23T05:15:12","slug":"pregnant-women-high-bp-may-higher-risk-heart-diseases-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.1mg.com\/articles\/pregnant-women-high-bp-may-higher-risk-heart-diseases-later\/","title":{"rendered":"Pregnant Women With High BP May Be At A Higher Risk Of Heart Diseases\u00a0Later"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-28439 size-full\" title=\"Pregnant Women With High BP May Be At A Higher Risk Of Heart Diseases Later\" src=\"https:\/\/www.1mg.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/rsz_shutterstock_638474116.jpg\" alt=\"Pregnant Women With High BP May Be At A Higher Risk Of Heart Diseases Later\" width=\"630\" height=\"380\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><b>A new study <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>shows that expecting <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>mothers who <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>have high blood pressure <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>during<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>pregnancy <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>are more susceptible to developing <\/b><\/strong><strong><b>heart disease<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>s\u00a0<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>in future<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A group of researchers conducted a study on 1,46,748 women with a first pregnancy and followed-up with them for 4.5 years. Among them, 997 had a diagnosis of heart disease and 6,812 had an elevated blood pressure.\u00a0The remaining women were healthy and served as controls. During the follow-up period, women with high blood pressure during pregnancy were found to have a 2.2 times higher chance of developing heart disease compared to the healthy women. They also had 5.6 times greater risk of developing hypertension later after delivery.
