In addition, the current study examined the link to birth defects amongst depressed\u00a0pregnant women.<\/p>\n<p>-The study included\u00a018,487 depressed women from the Quebec Pregnancy Cohort, of which about 3,640 (about 20%) took antidepressants in the first three months of their pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>-The study suggested that\u00a0pregnant women suffering from depression were at an increased risk of having a baby with birth defects.<\/p>\n<p>-Antidepressants use during pregnancy has the potential to interfere with serotonin intake by the fetus, which can result in malformations<\/p>\n<p>-The pregnant women were evaluated for the first trimester because that is when all the organ systems of the child develop.<\/p>\n<p>-Findings were published in the <em>British Medical Journal<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Source: The British Medical Journal\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25951\" src=\"https:\/\/www.1mg.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/rsz_shutterstock_531052789.jpg\" alt=\"1mg\" width=\"630\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[118,207],"class_list":["post-25941","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-1mg-news","tag-gynaecological","tag-womens-health"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.1 -
