However, parents need to understand that most fevers are usually not life-threatening and are nothing but the body\u2019s defence mechanisms in response to any kind of infections.<\/p>\n<p><b>How Much Temperature\u00a0Is Considered To Be Normal In Children?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The normal body temperature is about 98.6 \u00b0F. <strong>Temperatures above 100.4 \u00b0F signal fever. Most fevers are viral and are not serious in nature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>-Common signs of fever include warm skin, sweating, fussy and irritable child, flushed skin and loss of appetite.\u00a0It may be accompanied by vomiting, sore throat, loose stools, runny nose, and cough.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Should You Do In Case Your Child Has Fever?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 . Administer plenty of fluids to the child to<strong> prevent dehydration<\/strong>. As the body develops a high temperature, it loses water.<\/p>\n<p>2 . Administer <strong>paracetamol<\/strong> as per your child\u2019s weight as directed by your physician.<\/p>\n<p>3 . <strong>DO NOT use aspirin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>4 . Do not put extra clothing or cover up your child.\u00a0\u00a0Use <strong>light clothing<\/strong> on your child and let the body cool.<\/p>\n<p>5 . Do not force feed your child.\u00a0An adequate amount of fluids <strong>(2-3lts)<\/strong> is enough to keep the child hydrated and maintain urine output.<\/p>\n<p>6 . To bring the temperature down quickly, <strong>do fomentation using a cool, wet cloth<\/strong> on the forehead.<\/p>\n<p>7 . You may also <strong>keep the child under a fan<\/strong> to help in bringing down the temperature.<\/p>\n<p>8 . You can give your child a\u00a0<strong>bath with lukewarm water<\/strong> to lower his\/her body temperature.<\/p>\n<p>9 . If a child who is<strong> 3 months or younger<\/strong> has a temperature higher than 100.4 \u00b0F (38\u00b0C), seek medical care immediately.<\/p>\n<p>10 . An older child may require immediate medical supervision in case of the following:<\/p>\n<p>-Persistent fever for more than five days<\/p>\n<p>-Rash<\/p>\n<p>-Vomiting and diarrhoea<\/p>\n<p>-Dehydration with less urination than normal. Child appears irritable, dull, and drowsy<\/p>\n<p>-Excessive and inconsolable crying<\/p>\n<p>-Any other known medical conditions exist simultaneously<\/p>\n<p>Avoid sending your child to school or daycare until the child\u2019s temperature is normal at least for a duration of 24 hours.
