What Is The Warning?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-According to the warning, s<strong>erious side effects <\/strong>are associated with the use of fluoroquinolones.<\/p>\n<p>-An FDA safety review has shown that fluoroquinolones when used systemically (i.e. tablets, capsules, and injectable) are associated with disabling and potentially permanent serious side effects that can occur together.<\/p>\n<p>-These side effects can involve the tendons, muscles, joints, nerves, and central nervous system.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-Side effects generally outweigh the benefits for patients with\u00a0sinusitis, bronchitis, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections who have other treatment options.<\/p>\n<p>-Therefore, FDA suggests that for patients with these conditions, fluoroquinolone\u00a0should be reserved for those who do not have alternative treatment options.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;\">2 . What are Fluoroquinolones?\u00a0( Common brand names: Ciplox, Oflox, Levoflox)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-The fluoroquinolones are a family of broad spectrum antibiotics that have been used widely for various common infections like respiratory and urinary tract infections.<\/p>\n<p>-Fluoroquinolones are active against a wide range of aerobic gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>-Currently, there are 7 FDA-approved fluoroquinolones for systemic use on the market:Moxifloxacin,Ciprofloxacin,\u00a0Gemifloxacin,\u00a0Levofloxacin,\u00a0Moxifloxacin, and\u00a0Ofloxacin.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;\">3 .
