Who should avoid water overintake?

Well, it's a known fact that water is essential for life; however, as it is said that an excess of everything is bad. It holds true for water as well. Drinking too much water can lead to serious complications.

Healthy kidneys can handle ~1 liter/hour. Drinking beyond that can lead to overhydration.

How Much Is Too Much?

Occurs when your body takes in more water than it can get rid of, straining your kidneys and diluting sodium levels.

Low sodium may result in hyponatremia, making fluid enter your brain cells causing swelling, confusion, even coma.

– Pale or colorless urine – Nausea & headache – Muscle cramps – Confusion or drowsiness

– Endurance athletes – People with heart, liver, or kidney conditions – Those on certain medications or drugs like diuretics or antipsychotic drugs
