Joint discomfort can hinder our daily activities. Through gentle yoga poses, we can improve our flexibility, decrease our stiffness, and promote healthy joints—in a safe way—when practiced consistently.

Mountain pose is an easy pose to learn, standing up straight, and uses proper alignment of the body. It is used to improve strength in the areas of joints as well as improve proper posture.

Tree pose strengthens the knee and ankle joints, plus helps with improving balance. It also promotes coordination and stability, decreasing the chances of straining one’s joints.

Cobra pose gently stretches the spine, shoulders and hips. It relieves tension in the lower back and promotes range of motion in the spine.

Bridge pose strengthens back, hip and knee joints, as well as providing blood flow to the area of pain and releasing stiffness in joints.

This is a deeply relaxing pose that reduces tension in the hips, knees and ankles. It is also helpful to calm the nervous system and relieve inflammation-related pain.
