A sudden spike in blood pressure can be alarming, but knowing how to react promptly can make a significant difference. Here's what you can do right away to get the situation under control.

The first thing you should do if your blood pressure suddenly spikes is to sit down right away in a quiet spot. Deep breathing reduces blood pressure and relaxes blood vessels.
