Just as you may think, there are situations in which pomegranates can be harmful for some individuals. Let's take a look at who should forgo eating them.

Pomegranates are high in potassium content. Patients with kidney disease struggle to manage potassium levels and will have other complications arise. Always speak to your doctor before eating one.

Since pomegranates lower blood pressure naturally, eating them could lead to some dizziness or fainting for someone already taking blood-pressure lowering medications, like many patients who have had chronic illness.

While many of us enjoy fruit salads and eating new foods, sometimes eating the wrong one, can lead to allergic symptoms such as itching, swelling, or breathlessness, and some of us are allergic to pomegranates. If there is any reaction, stop eating the fruit immediately.

Pomegranates can react with a person's medications, typically blood thinner and cholesterol medications. This can change the severity of a side effect, or lower the effectiveness of the medication. Check with your doctor before you are add one into your diet.

Although there are antioxidants contained in pomegranates, overindulgence can cause elevated blood sugar levels for a diabetic . Allowing a moderate consumption of pomegranates is the way to go to avoid complications.
