A low-calorie diet is a diet that encourages you to restrict your total daily caloric intake across a long period of time. By setting a caloric deficit, your body is forced to use stored fat for energy.

A low-sugar diet means you're going to restrict added sugar from sweets, beverages, and processed food. With less sugar, you're going to limit the spikes in your insulin as well as cravings for more sugar.

Low-calorie diets will most likely lead to weight loss at a faster rate initially. Low-sugar diets will can lead to less cravings making all the difference when trying to create a lifestyle change long-term.
