First, people who are extroverted or dominant personalities tend to talk louder. These people tend to naturally project more energy or enthusiasm, even if they are not even intentionally trying; they are simply trying to be seen/heard.

It's A Personality Trait

People talk loudly for one reason: they want attention or validation. This behavior is common with people who feel insecure and/or fear that they will not get noticed. For this reason, loudness is their social armor.

They may not even recognize that they are loud. Psychologists term that "volume blindness," & it is prevalent among people raised in loud families or crowded environments.

Lastly, many people talk loud when they are feeling anxious, insecure, or uncomfortable in social settings. Quite often, their loud voice serves as an unconscious coping mechanism to conceal their inner tension. It's not rude behavior - it is being stressed out.

Individuals with partial hearing loss are often loud talkers, and they do not even realize it. Loud Talkers may mimic the loudness that they internally hear which can be too loud for their friends and family.

Yes, many loud talkers can learn to volume down, through purposeful feedback and awareness. If loud talkers are having difficulties in relationships or social engagement context, soft reminders, vocal coaching, or therapy can help to manage their volume control.
