Gout and high levels of uric acid can be associated with inflammatory symptoms such as joint pain, so making small daily adjustments to your life can contribute to keeping your uric acid levels in the normal range.

To adequately hydrate your body you should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water each day. This allows for the excretion of uric acid via the urine.

Red meat, organ meats, and shellfish all contain purines and will contribute to the body's production of uric acid.

Sugar-sweetened beverages and fructose may increase your uric acid levels, therefore you should select water, coconut water, or herbal waters in place of those.
