Refrigeration slows spoilage, but in a damp climate, it can trap moisture and that’s bad news for your food.

Fridges cool, but don’t remove moisture. Storing hot food directly causes condensation, helping microbes thrive, making food more vulnerable to fungal growth.

Bacteria can survive if: -Food isn’t cooled before storage -It's reheated multiple times -It's stored too long or in poor containers

To prevent spoilage in humid weather, cool food before refrigerating, use airtight steel or glass containers, and avoid overcrowding the fridge. Label leftovers with dates, skip pre-cut produce, and store raw and cooked items separately to avoid contamination.

Children, the elderly, immunocompromised people, and those with sensitive digestion are more likely to fall ill from poorly stored food.

If it smells odd or the texture is off, don’t take a chance. Refrigeration delays spoilage, it doesn’t prevent it.
