Earwax (cerumen) is a substance created by glands in the outer ear canal. It provides protection by providing moisture, trapping dust & preventing infection. Even though it has protective functions, excessive earwax can cause problems.

For stubborn wax, ENT specialists can also manage ear irrigation. Its relatively safe, quick, and while flushing wax out, also doesn't cause injury to the canal with warm water.

-Clean the outer ear only -Do not use earbuds, or poke around inside -Use prescribed drops (if applicable) - If you have any scalp or ear conditions make sure to get it treated early

Earwax is totally normal, but it is not always harmless. If you are taking medication, or are simply feeling discomfort, always check first with your doctor before you try any remedy for the ears.
