Human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause serious cancers in both men and women. Yet, many still think the vaccine is only for girls.

HPV can lead to cancers of the mouth, throat, anus, and penis in men. Vaccinating boys early helps protect their future health, and stops the spread of the virus.

The HPV vaccine is most effective before exposure to the virus, typically before age 15. That’s why experts recommend starting at age 9–14.

Children between 9 and 14 need two doses. Those 15 and above may need three. Complete the schedule for long-term protection.

India now has an affordable, made-in-India HPV vaccine. It’s WHO-approved, widely available, and recommended for both boys and girls.
