Cold milk will neutralize stomach acid & provide immediate relief for the burning sensation. Avoid flavored & sugary milk, because plain, cold milk works best.

Tulsi (basil) leaves can promote saliva production and help reduce acid in the stomach. You could chew 3-4 leaves slowly or you could brew them into a calming tea.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties & helps with digestion. Boil a few slices of ginger in water, allow the mixture to cool, & then sip the ginger-infused water to help soothe the lining of the stomach.

It’s best to avoid triggering foods such as tomatoes, citrus, spicy & deep fried snack foods to give the digestive system a rest. You can try eating light & low acidity meals until the symptoms subside.

If you lay down immediately after eating, you could allow stomach acid to flow upwards. After a meal it is best to stay upright for at least 2-3 hours to stop stomach acid reflux.

When you eat too much food at a time, you stretch your stomach, which is going to create more acid. Use smaller, more frequent meals to take some of the stress off your digestive system.

Stress is a big trigger for acidity. Start with 10-15 min of deep breathing or brief mindfulness exercises to quiet your mind & facilitate your digestion.

If you have chronic acidity or mild acidity symptoms that occur more than twice a week, see a gastroenterologist. Chronic acidity may lead to Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)or some other underlying issue.
